Review: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

Well, this one is certainly a ride!

I love a good old thriller and couldn’t wait to read The Silent Patient. It begins with Alicia Berenson, infamous for shooting her husband in the head five times despite seemingly having the perfect marriage.

Since then, Alicia has not spoken a single word. Theo Faber, a criminal psychotherapist with a dark past of his own is intent on discovering the truth no matter the cost, taking him on a dark twisted path...

I loved the mystery element of the book, with various characters introduced to reveal snippets of Alicia’s life in the lead-up to her husband’s death, with of course some characters more trustworthy than others. We discover Alicia’s life through excerpts from her diary, revealing the relationship between her and various characters, as well her mental state at the time.

I loved the fast pace and trying to work with the various clues throughout the narrative. I would say this is perfect if you fancy a light easy page turner which keeps you guessing.

Overall I would give this: 3.5/5
